Western Red Cedar Shakes offer a unique and natural appeal. There are three main options in cedar shakes, but feel free to call to discuss other options.

Handsplit Shakes

Nu-Forest keeps #1 Blue Label “SELECT 24” Handslpit shakes in two varieties; Mediums and Heavies. These have handsplit faces with re-sawn backs and offer a rough rustic look. Medium shakes measure ½” to ¾” in thickness at the butt of the shake while the heavies range from ¾” to 5/4”. Both options will supply 20 square feet of coverage per bundle based on a 10” exposure.

Tapersawn Shakes

Unlike the Handsplit Shakes, “PREMIUM” Tapersawn Shakes are sawn on both sides for a smooth look. They are 100% vertical grain for maximum longevity. A bundle of these 5/8″x18″ shakes also covers 20 square feet using a 7-1/2” exposure.
